The celebration was one fitting for a truly valiant woman – Uncle Max performing the smoking ceremony around Marnie’s coffin, Pruney welcoming us to country, Helen, Kevin, Maria and Peter providing music, Ralph ministering the Eucharist to us, and the many other symbolic gestures that were given.
Shireen Malamoo uplifted us with her song "Just a closer walk with Thee". Then we followed in procession out of the Church to Peter Kearney singing "Where is Your song, my Lord?", echoing Marnie’s desire, and that of all present, to continue the love and welcome of the Poor in our own midst.
Afterwards we gathered in the Church hall for the wake, where Marnie was the centre piece, and continued sharing in the hospitality and interconnectedness of all those present.
